In this project the 2 main communication methods I used were mind maps and the 5 W’s. I feel that the mind maps were very useful in organising my research and points and made it clear what I was aiming to tell with my article. Also, the 5 W’s show the bare bones of what my article is about and informed the structure of my final piece greatly. This is because all of the key information listed in the 5 W’s task is in the introduction paragraph of my article, allowing the reader to access the most important information in the first few seconds of reading.
I feel that all of the design and research tools I used were effective in the production of my article. As previously mentioned the communication methods (mind maps and the 5 W’s) I utilized greatly informed my work in a positive and productive way. For my secondary research I looked at and sourced a range of websites. At least half of my facts from secondary sources came directly from the official campaign website, so the information featured in my article is as reliable as possible for a secondary source.
For me interviews and social media surveys contributed to my final piece in a different way to the tools that I have talked about up to this point. The subject of both my interviews and my social media survey was whether there was a market for articles on my subject and the probability of people seeing/ reading my article. This information, although not about the content, still informed my final piece and whether it was a good subject too write an article. Both methods worked very well and clearly showed me the gap in the market for my topic.
